The arrival of the Polish Children in New Zealand, in 1944.
The following resources would be useful for anyone researching the story of the arrival of the Polish children in New Zealand in 1944. This is not a complete list of available resources but it is a very good place to start.
Resources:
“New Zealand's First Refugees - Pahiatua's Polish Children” – this is a suitable book for a school library. The first part of the book deals with history and is very informative. The second part is the children's lived experience and is also very important. Perhaps the following generations' experiences is a bit beyond high school students but it does round out the story well. This book is highly recommended. It is also available online.
The Kresy-Siberia website's special exhibition "https://kresy-siberia.org/special-exhibitions/new-zealand-refugees/"
Here all the information is on-line. Some parts are still missing but most of it is there.
There is a bibliography which has many NZ books that mention Polish Children e.g.
